Modest sportswear and swimwear
Summer isn't truly summer without gelato – lots of gelato – and numerous dinners spent with friends and family, whether they're in town or you've traveled to see them. My summer this year featured an unhealthy amount of pasta (worth it). But as summer draws to a close, we might begin to think about returning to slightly healthier habits.
How can we dress modestly while exercising - I hear you ask. Fortunately, there are now a number of modest sportswear and swimwear brands.
Veiled garments
I love their motto ‘ditch the layers’, because what is more annoying than having to wear multiple layers while you exercise! They offer long tops with hijabs attached, and ones without. The color palette of their garments is unfortunately not the most flattering shades, there is an outdated feel. But you can certainly find great essentials in black, navy, and grey.
Kalsoni
Since jogging bottoms and leggings can be found anywhere, Kalsoni has entered the activewear market by focusing on those harder to find modest pieces – long sleeve, modest tops. Kalsoni's color palette is sleek, modern, and aesthetic. And the tops also come with pockets, which is so useful! The rest of the world take note! We need a place to store our locker keys and phone while we work out. The attention to these details lets me know this brand was started by someone who knows what they’re talking about. That said, I did not like that they didn’t include the fabric makeup of their garments. But they do state it's anti-pill and sweat-absorbing.
Imaan active
Imaan Active offers a wide selection of modest activewear and swimwear in aesthetic, modern colors. Best of all, the tops have pockets. This brand might be one of the first (if not the only) modest activewear brands that sell both athletic and swimwear, which makes it a perfect one stop shop for all your modest fitness needs.
Lyra swim
This brand focuses on swimwear and sells beautiful swimwear tunics in a number of sleek, and modern designs and colours. They also sell other beach wear essentials such as sarongs, airy beach trousers and kaftans.
